Administrative and user mode - Run mode
Overview
TMS Backup distinguishes between two core run modes and security settings namely the [ADMIN / USER] mode and the [NO MODE]. This allows for the security levels to be adjusted in accordance with personal, end user or institutional requirements.
Run modes can be switches between the three run-mode-states namely between [ADMIN], [USER] and the [NO MODE] -state. These run mode changes can be performed at any time.
If configured to run in [ADMIN / USER] mode a password entry is required every time a switch from [USER] to [ADMIN] - state is being performed or a change from [USER] to [NO MODE] is initiated.

Run mode details
[ADMIN/USER] mode
Description
By default the program is setup to run in [ADMIN/USER] mode thus distinguishing between a normal operational mode running as a [USER] and the administrative or configuration mode running as a program [ADMIN]. By running in this mode access to configuration sections and backup profiles will be restricted by a password. Please note that this is a program specific setup and is not related to the Windows user setup.
If set to run in [ADMIN/USER] mode the program will always start up in [USER] mode which allows the user to perform all predefined backups.
If configuration changes are required, the program needs to be switched back into [ADMIN] mode by selecting the [Admin] menu or configuration icon and entering the password. This will provide access to additional configuration icons and menu entries. All mode changes can be done from within the program and from the main screen.
Some non-critical configuration changes and adjustments can also be performed by the user when running in [USER] mode.
Scope
This setup suits a situation where the user performing the e.g daily backups may receive configuration support through an administrator or experienced user or an additional layer of security is required to avoid accidental changes of crucial configurations.
[NO MODE] mode
Description
If configured to run in [NO MODE], the program will have no configuration restriction and would basically run as it would be in [ADMIN] mode all the time.
If run in [NO MODE] and then shut down while in [NO MODE], the program will automatically resume its state and start up in [NO MODE] mode again!
Scope
This suits a single (power) user setup were the securing of the configuration settings is not required.
